Seth N. Katz

Seth N. Katz is an associate in the firms litigation practice, with a focus on labor and employment and business law. He advises clients on litigation avoidance, policy review, employee discipline, hiring and firing, non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, affirmative action plans, trade secrets and management training. His experience has also included the representation of clients in a variety of disputes related to contracts, real estate and torts.

Mr. Katz is a member of the State Bar of Georgia. He is a member of both the Business Law and Employment Law Sections of the Georgia State Bar and he is Chairman of the State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyers Division Business Law Section.

In 2006, Mr. Katz earned a Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law. While in law school, he served as an intern for the National Labor Relations Board. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1998 from the University of Georgia.

Tom Shepherd is an associate in Thompson Law's business and employment practice, focusing on business, corporate, employment and labor law. He advises clients on litigation avoidance, business contracts, restrictive covenants, mergers and acquisitions, unemployment benefits, Department of Labor disputes and management training. His experience also includes client representation in disputes related to breach of contract, breach of non-compete/non-solicitation covenants, theft of trade secrets, employment discrimination and torts. Mr. Shepherd also sits on the Board of Directors for The Smart Place, Inc.

Mr. Shepherd began his legal practice trying cases with the Fulton County Solicitor General. In 2006, he earned a Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law, located in San Diego California. While in law school, he interned with the Honorable Craig L. Schwall, Fulton County Superior Court Judge.

During his undergraduate career at Georgia State University, Mr. Shepherd concentrated his studies on entrepreneurship and small business development, winning several new venture competitions at Georgia State's Robinson College of Business. Prior to law school, Mr. Shepherd worked as an accountant with a local Atlanta building construction and real estate development company.

Matt Begley is an associate in Thompson Law's business and employment law practices. He represents clients in state and federal courts in a wide variety of corporate matters. He has experience in mergers and acquisitions, restrictive covenants, unemployment and workers' compensation benefits, trade secret disputes, and real estate litigation. He also advises clients on litigation avoidance, business contracts, the Mine Safety and Health Act (MSHA), and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

In 2007, Mr. Begley earned his Juris Doctor degree from Emory University School of Law located in Atlanta, Georgia. While in law school, Mr. Begley interned with the Center for Disease Control's Office of General Counsel focusing on public health law and employment disputes. During his undergraduate career at Haverford College, Mr. Begley concentrated on digital copyright issues including a thesis on emerging internet music markets.

Marsha S. Ferguson

Marsha S. Ferguson has been with Thompson Law, LLC since its inception as its Administrative Assistant and Business Manager and is located in the firm's Greenville, South Carolina office. Ms. Ferguson's responsibilities include all aspects of the firms financial services including billing, financial reporting and analysis, accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable and banking relationships. She is also responsible for employee benefits administration and office management. She also performs administrative and paralegal functions as needed for clients, particularly regarding corporate, business and financial matters. She was formerly with Thompson, Mann and Hutson in Greenville, SC.
